I'm Writing a Book.

...an e-book, that is.

Hey, it's Lauri! It's been a while, but I'm still here to help you succeed with languages.

This news may seem a bit random, but I assure you it’s not. For months, I’ve been compiling the experiences of my students with my studies in language acquisition theory, all for the purpose of asking myself what I would want to know as someone who is either 1. totally new to learning languages, or 2. returning to a language after failure to try again. When you think about it, everyone could be in one of those categories. You either have or you haven't tried to learn a language. If you haven't, you're new. If you have, and you're starting again, you are a returning warrior to the same battle. This time, though, your strategy can be different.

Typically, my job is to teach people other languages. This is something that I’ve capitalized on for years now, but I want to expand and spend more time teaching people how to learn other languages. That’s a different story, and it’s far more complex than memorizing vocabulary and working up the courage to speak to native speakers.

From my experience and from listening well to others, I know that there are other factors: mental and emotional patterns come into play when moving between learning and actually using a foreign language. There are stories told to us by people on the outside, as well as ones within our own heads, which discourage us, break us down, and keep us from doing the things we dream about. Even as a polyglot, I have been in the victim position many times because of these myths and the related limits I place on myself. I want to free you from whatever is holding you back from learning, traveling, and expanding your horizons with language.

My motivation was always to inspire people to do what I do - maybe not to the tune of 5 languages, but something modest: one or two foreign languages is enough to change your life. But along with that power come challenges. I’m here to help you overcome them.

With all of that being said, I’m excited to release an e-book this autumn which will affordably and comprehensively address mental blocks, learning myths, and the “how” that holds so many learners back. Not only will it be packed with my most useful tips, but there will be opportunities later to learn exactly how I use them for myself in a practical sense.

🫴Stay tuned; there are more updates to come!
